XERAFY Announces New Embedded UHF RFID Metal Tags

New RFID tag manufacturer releases passive ROM and embed-in-metal RFID tags, for tool tracking, data re-architecture, and industrial asset tracking.

April 14, 2010, Shanghai, China–A diverse team of engineers with a passion for RFID got together to address a frequent customer request for a tag small enough to fit their small metal assets, like tools and blade servers, with high read performance that would survive extreme temperatures, humidity, and rough handling. The team developed a breakthrough RF design to produce the world’s smallest and most rugged metal asset tag.  The outcome is thefounding of XERAFYTM, a new company headquartered in Hong Kong with sales and support offices in Dallas, TX and Shanghai, China.

“Simply put, XERAFY is a company created from the feedback of the market; we listened and then went to work.”  Explains Dennis Khoo, CEO of XERAFY, “Our goal is to create products that not only meet the requirements of the customers and markets, but explore those areas and applications in which there were no previous solutions.”

Today, the company features their extensive, passive, UHF, read-on-metal (ROM) tag product line at the RFID Journal LIVE! 2010, Orlando, FL, Booth #138. The exhibit demonstrates the Picox tag, the industry’s smallest and most robust, ROM tag, that can also be embedded in various metal form factors, challengingthe way RFID tags are mounted and deployed.  Additionally, partners Keytone Technologies, Holland 1916 and Shipcom Wireless are participating in the booth, showcasing applications for the embedded, industrial tool tracking and for the Oil & Gas.

The product line is fully EPC qualified, and the performance has been recently proven in a Read-on-metal Benchmark Report, conducted by Wayne Laffitte, PE, at Venture Research Lab.  The ROM Benchmark Report, which compares the performance of XERAFY tags to that of other ROM tags in the market place, is available for free download on the website at www.xerafy.com/benchmark.

The Picox tag, measuring at 0.47 x 0.28 x 0.12 in,is the smallest UHF read-on-metal tag yet boasts a read range of up to 4ft, makes the Picox an ideal tag for applications such as tool tracking, weapon tracking, and medical devices. The Nanox tag complies with Financial Services Technology Consortium standards for data center asset tracking, sized at 0.98 x 0.35 x 0.12 in and can read easily at 10 ft.The Microx Tag, sized at 1.65 x 1.26 x 0.22 in, is the most rugged tag on the market.  The Microx tag is designed for extremelychallenging environments such as oil production and chemical tracking, with IP68 environmental standard compliance, and the ability to withstand temperatures of up to480oF.
